Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has revealed forward Son Heung-min could be on the sidelines for a ‘while’ after picking up a hamstring injury.

It was insult upon injury for Mourinho as Son handed his side a huge blow after their draw to Newcastle.

There was more than enough fuming from the Spurs camp after a late VAR cameo saw the Magpies snatch a point.

Mourinho even failed to comment on the penalty issue after the match. It only got worse as Son also picked up an injury in the same game.

The South Korean forward was replaced at half-time during the clash at St. James’ Park just moments after rattling the crossbar with a shot on goal.

Given his good run of form of late, it was a big surprise to see Son subbed off. Just last week, he bagged an impressive four goals against Southampton.

Mourinho reveals taking off the winger was no tactical tweak and it was indeed due to an injury.

“It’s an injury,” Mourinho said in his press conference as quoted by Football.london.

“We’ll have him out for a while. It’s his hamstring.”

Son has already had to battle injury issues once this year having recovered from a fractured arm back in February to feature in the final games of the 2019/20 season.

The injury comes at a very bad time for spurs where they have games coming thick and through. Tottenham face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League, and Mourinho’s former side Man Utd next Sunday.
