After his performance against Wolfsberger, a Tottenham Hotspur starlet just got compared to Marcus Rashford by Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho just compared one of his youngest players to Marcus Rashford, it happened on Wednesday evening. After the Spurs defeated Wolfsberger with an 8-1 aggregate scoreline, the Portuguese manager wanted to talk about his player’s performance. A 16 year old kid delivered the final assists of today’s match for Carlos Vinicius. We are talking about Dane Scarlett, the English Tottenham academy player who got his big break today.

Very few players in football history get to make a professional debut like this one and get praised by his manager. Comparing him to Marcus Rashford might put some pressure in his development but it will also make him more resilient. Mourinho is convinced Dane can become an important player for Tottenham in the near future. He is that certain about the kid’s skills.

Mourinho also praised Dele Alli.

In a statement picked up by Express, Mourinho also praised Dele Alli’s top performance. However, he spoke about Dane first: “Dane is a diamond, a kid with incredible potential. He has worked many times with the first team and that gives him a different personality. The kid is still 16, 17 soon and I believe next season he will be a first-team squad player because he has a lot of talent. He is going to be a fantastic player and I hope everything around him goes well. His position is a striker, a number nine, I have been playing him from the sides similar to Marcus Rashford, and is very clever.”

“We had a difficult period, Dele Alli had an injury and at the same time talk, talk, talking about staying or leaving. The market closed, the injury went and he started working with motivation. He is playing very well, I am not saying in this moment we have a starting line-up because of so many matches but it is coming. The goal was beautiful but the meaning of the assists and hard work for team means more to me.”
