Mason Mount is relishing competition for game-time at Chelsea and believes it would make him up his game at the club.

Mason Mount is unfazed at the prospect of seeing less minutes due to new faces at the club.

Chelsea were busy in the window and have made no less than six additions so far.

Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to mention a few are some of the headline transfer dealings by the Blues. With the latter in particular, Mason Mount could see his game-time come under threat.

Last season, the Blues academy graduate made 53 appearances in total for Chelsea. He was also the Blues’ most featured player in all competitions with regards to appearances.

Just recently, Frank Lampard had to dismiss claims that Mason Mount was unsettled following the arrival of Kai Havertz

Rather than be fazed or bothered about it, the 21-year-old is looking forward to the competition that will help him thrive even better.

“You look at our team now and some brilliant world-class players have come in and that keeps the competition high,” Mount said to Chelsea’s official website.

“Everyone is pushing for places and that’s what you want at a club like this. You want the competition to be there because it keeps standards high. When you’re in this building, you’re competing straight away. Chelsea is a massive club so they’re always going to sign top players.”

“I love competing against my team-mates, we all love it, and the gaffer wants high standards in training. There’s always going to be that little feeling that they could be coming in to your position but with me, I’m always positive and up for the challenge.”

Mount has started both of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far this season. He is in line to do so once again when the Blues travel to The Hawthorns at the weekend.
