The Spanish striker quit Atletico due to lack of enough game time but there’s still a special place in his heart for the former employers.

Alvaro Morata has been in red-hot form for Juventus, finding the net six times across eight matches already early in the season.

The 28-year old rejoined the Allianz Stadium in September on a season-long loan deal from Atletico Madrid, with Juve having the option to make his move permanent for €45 million.

For those who know him from his first stint in Turin, the marksman hitting the ground running will not come as much of a surprise.

Morata is a Real Madrid youth product and spent several seasons with the senior team and later joined local rivals Atleti, a move that saw him become a subject of criticism among the Los Blancos faithful.

“It pains me to read certain headlines that make fun of me being grateful to the clubs I’ve been to,” he told ‘El Partidazo’ by COPE and Radio MARCA.

“You always have a team from when you are little and I am and will be from Atletico. I want it to be very clear that I am grateful to Atleti.

“Everyone looks for their best option, it had been a very long time since I played more than six games on the bounce, playing at least 70 minutes per game.”
