Let’s take a look at the player ratings of the World Cup qualifier between Montenegro and Netherlands from Stadion Pod Goricom.

Netherlands sit on top of Group G and a win here tonight against Montenegro at Stadion Pod Goricom would guarantee a spot in the World Cup next year. The home side were sadly out of the qualification as they saw results turn against them in their previous games.

The Dutch Eleven completely had control over the proceedings from the beginning of the game. However, Louis Van Gaal’s side were unable to find the back of the net. The locals were sitting deep in their half and attempting to scare their opponents with rare counter-attacks.

Nevertheless, Netherlands received the ultimate opportunity to take the lead in the 24th minute. Klaassen was needlessly fouled by Jankovic just inside the penalty box. Depay then stepped up for the important shot and digged it past Sarkic who went the right way but could not save it.

While monitoring the remaining time on the field, both teams went into the dressing room with the visiting side in the lead. Although the second half was going to bring an unexpected result for everyone.

Netherlands doubled their lead with another goal for the Barcelona striker in the 55th minute. Right-back Dumfries fired a low cross towards the near post which was connected by Depay for the second goal of the game. An outrageous backheel flick fooled Montenegro’s goalkeeper for the 11th goal of the campaign for the Barca forward.

Van Gaal’s men were shocked in the 83rd minutes as the home side pulled one goal back. A lovely passing move from Beciraj, Osmajic, and Vukotic stunned their opponents. And just within the next few minutes, Netherlands were left unconscious as Montenegro found the leveller.

Radunovic’s cross from the left flank was met by substitute Vujnovic who muscled Blind and powered a header past Bijlow. Withing six minutes late in the second half, the home team came back from a two-goal deficit to earn some respect in this competition.
