Man City join the race for in-demand Serie A defender

Manchester City have joined Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Tottenham in the transfer race for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

The 27-year-old, who joined Inter from Sampdoria in 2017, is out of contract next summer. Therefore, he can discuss a free transfer with non-Italian clubs in 2023.

PSG tried to sign Skriniar during the previous transfer window, but Inter said no. The Nerazzurri rejected offers of as much as £43 million (€49m) from the Ligue 1 leaders. [Daily Mail]

Real Madrid cool Mbappe interest

The Spanish and European champions have cooled their interest in signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Real Madrid will no longer chase the 23-year-old striker if he has no desire to join them. He rejected a free transfer to the club this year in favor of signing a new lucrative two-year deal at PSG. [Marca – in Spanish]

Saliba open to new Arsenal contract

Arsenal defender William Saliba is open to signing a new contract if the Gunners offer him fresh terms.

The 21-year-old Frenchman has been a revelation in Mikel Arteta’s defense after spending the past three seasons on loan in France. He has started in seven of the club’s eight Premier League games in 2022/23. [Sky Sports]

Araujo rejected Premier League offers

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo rejected transfer offers from several unnamed Premier League clubs.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan instead committed his future to Barcelona by signing a new four-year contract at the club until 2026. He has started in all six of Barca’s league games this season. [Diario Sport – in Spanish]

PSG still keen on Leao

Despite a failed recent attempt to sign Rafael Leao, Paris Saint-Germain have not given up. The Ligue 1 leaders may still make another move for the AC Milan forward in January.

While PSG contacted AC Milan about Leao in the summer, talks never advanced. Chelsea were clearly ahead. The Blues made a transfer offer worth around €70 million for the Portugal international. AC Milan, however, rejected it. [Le10Sport – in French]
