Arsenal plot to hijack Barcelona’s move for €80m La Liga star

The Gunners hope to beat Barcelona in the transfer race for Real Sociedad attacker Alexander Isak.

The 22-year-old Swede prefers a move to Camp Nou. Barcelona are interested, having listed him as an alternative to No.1 summer target Erling Haaland. However, Isak has an €80 million release clause in his Real Sociedad contract – which could be a problem for the Catalan club.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have approached Isak’s entourage but hope to convince La Real to lower the forward’s release clause first. [Diario Sport – in Spanish]

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has denied the club has started transfer talks with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.

“I can deny that there has been any kind of negotiation over Haaland. Not a meeting, nor a conversation, nothing,” he told a supporters group at the weekend.

In response to an alleged between manager Xavi Hernandez and Haaland, Laporta added: “That’s none of my business, but two sportsmen can talk about football, I suppose. The first thing we’d do is contact Borussia Dortmund, his club.”
