The Ecuador international has publicly expressed his desire to leave Brighton.
Brighton have reportedly put a £90 million price tag on Moises Caicedo amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
Caicedo has attracted interest from a number of elite sides due to his brilliant performances this season. But Brighton do not intend to give up on their star midfielder without a fight.
Chelsea were the first club to make an official offer for the Ecuadorian star.
However, the Blues’ £55 million offer didn’t convince Brighton to sell the midfielder. Arsenal then tried to hijack the move with a £60m bid. But the Seagulls quickly rejected the second offer too.
According to The Independent, Brighton are demanding £90m for Caicedo as they expect higher offers in the coming days.
The Seagulls have also exiled Caicedo from their squad after he publicly called on the club to release him. Widespread reports in English media claim the Premier League side are planning to keep Caicedo out of their squad until after the transfer window deadline on Tuesday night.
The 21-year-old’s possible move away from Brighton is the latest chapter in Arsenal and Chelsea’s transfer war this winter.
Arsenal have missed out on the signings of Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk, with both players joining Chelsea later on. Let’s see if Caicedo’s massive transfer tag would fend off interest from the London giants.
