Liverpool will make their long-awaited Premier League title defense and they will have to improve on their performances of the last two years.

Under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool finally ended their 30-year wait for the Premier League title. They will not have a lot of time off as they begin their title defense in a little over a month’s time.

While most of Liverpool players have no experience of a title defense, James Milner is an exception. The England international won two titles while on the books of Manchester City.

Reflecting on their challenge ahead, Milner has warned his teammates that it will not be easy to retain their title. He believes that the Reds will have to be better than their before as everyone looks to hunt them down.

“This is the start again of an even tougher season,” Mirror quoted Milner.

“I think how good we’ve been over the last two seasons has been incredible, but if we stay at that same level it won’t be good enough.”

“Everyone else is pushing, everyone is improving. We have a target on our backs and they’re going to want to knock us off the top. So it’s down to us to keep improving, keep pushing.”

“It’s time to go again, keep pushing and have that hunger, even when we’ve been successful.”

“That’s the task for us, but teams in the past have shown how difficult it is to retain that league title. That’ll be a big challenge.”
