The reigning Serie A champions take on their city-rivals this weekend.
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi has admitted Romelu Lukaku will miss his side’s upcoming derby against Milan on Saturday.
The Belgian star suffered a thigh injury shortly after his return from Chelsea earlier this summer.
The Nerazzurri went on to beat Cremonese 3-1 in their first game after Lukaku’s injury.
Inzaghi believes his side can cope with their star striker’s absence until he returns from injury before the international break later this month.
“The hope is for [Lukaku] to recover before the international break,” the Italian manager said.
“It will take some time, but the medical staff is working on his recovery. We must prepare for these eventualities.
Inter might also miss Alessandro Bastoni, who stayed out their victory over Cremonese with a fever.
“He was not 100 per cent already before the Cremonese game with a fever, and in these two days he still was not well,” he added.
“I will decide as soon as I get him back in the group in training, as well as for the attack where I can choose between three players and figure out who to support Lautaro [Martinez].
“On Tuesday, [Joaquin] Correa did very well and scored, [Edin] Dzeko did a great job.”
