Milan defender Simon Kjaer had to leave the pitch on a stretcher after suffering a seemingly serious injury.

Milan played against Genoa in a Serie A game on Wednesday. The Rossoneri dominated the game in the opening minutes, but soon they received a huge injury blow.

Defender Simon Kjaer suffered a seemingly serious injury and left the pitch on a stretcher. Nonetheless, the Rossoneri continued their attacks and scored the opener through Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the tenth minute.

The Milan defender will undergo tests tomorrow to determine the severity of the injury. However, based on the game’s footage, it is evident he has taken a knock to his left knee. The team doctors strapped an icepack to his injured knee before moving him out of the pitch on a stretcher.

In case of a serious knee issue, Kjaer might have to spend weeks on the sidelines to complete his recovery. Milan are lucky to have Fikayo Tomori back in their squad. The former Chelsea star can play as a backup for Kjaer until he makes his return.

Kjaer recently signed a new two-year contract at Milan. The Danish defender joined the Rossoneri from Atalanta in 2020, quickly establishing himself as a starter at San Siro.
