AC Milan have reportedly joined the race to sign the highly sought-after Real Madrid playmaker Dani Ceballos.

Ceballos was impressive during his season-long loan at Arsenal, making Mikel Arteta beg the Gunners sporting management to secure a permanent deal for the Spaniard.

Despite suffering several injury setbacks throughout 2019/20, the 24-year-old midfielder has helped guide Arteta’s side to the FA Cup trophy.

Having showcased his admirable playmaking skills on numerous occasions, Ceballos has earned high acclaims from everyone at the club.

However, Arsenal’s efforts to extend the Spaniard’s stay in the capital has fallen on Real Madrid’s deaf ears, as Zinedine Zidane looks to put the ex-Betis man to the test during the off-season.

If Ceballos fails to convince the French boss of his capability of competing for a starting XI berth, he could be hitting the road again, though.

The London heavyweights were believed to be at the front of the queue until recently, but AC Milan are now ready to mount pressure on Real Madrid.

The Rossoneri are looking to tempt Los Blancos into selling their out-of-favor midfielder as they seek to take advantage of the ongoing uncertainty at the Emirates to hijack the deal, report The Telegraph.

Raul Sanllehi’s recent departure could give Milan a leg-up in the race to sign Ceballos, with the former Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis plotting an audacious heist.

Milan would like to take Ceballos on loan with an option to buy.

Stefano Pioli is hopeful of adding fresh midfield options in the summer to boost his team’s hopes of returning to the top-four clubs in Serie A.

Resurgent giants secured Europa League promotion on the back of a stellar post-return campaign.
