The Rossoneri forward scored his tenth goal of the season against Sampdoria.

Milan defeated Sampdoria 1-0 in their Serie A game on Sunday. Rafael Leao scored the only goal of the night in the eighth minute to send the Rossoneri to the top of the league table.

Following a long ball up from goalkeeper Mike Maignan, Leao sneaked past Sampdoria’s backline before firing the ball past Sampdoria’s keeper to make it 1-0 for Stefano Pioli’s side.

In a post-match interview, Pioli expressed his delight with the 22-year-old’s development.

“I believe he can always do better, he must not be satisfied,” the Milan boss said (via SportsMax). “He has the qualities to reach the top of Europe and the world.

“He reminds me of Henry, but it is true that Rafa must be himself. Leao is an extraordinary player, but he mustn’t rest on his laurels.”

Milan went on top of the league table after their title rivals Napoli and Inter drew 1-1 on Saturday. However, Pioli insists it is too soon to think about winning the Scudetto.

“Our goal does not change,” he said. “We printed last year’s standings at the beginning of the season and our goal is to improve on the 79 points collected last season.

“We had a perfect week and I’m happy for the guys who really gave everything, playing with intensity and determination, which allowed us to achieve these results.

“The championship is still long: let’s concentrate as we have always done to better prepare for the next match to get the best out of it.”
