A legendary Milan manager believes belief in themselves could be the key in the team’s pursuit of the Scudetto this season.

Juventus have been the undisputed superior force in the Italian top-flight for almost the entirety of the last decade.

All of the previous nine Serie A titles have gone the Bianconeri’s way, with AC Milan the only other team to succeed in 2010–11.

However, the scales of power appear to be tipping in Milan’s direction once again after a long time.

Stefano Pioli’s side, still without a defeat after seven matches, lead the league table having left fifth-placed Juventus much behind in the race for the 2021 Scudetto.

And Arrigo Sacchi, a man who led the team to European Cup, European Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Serie A, and Coppa Italia glory between 1987 and 1990, has backed Milan to win their 19th league title this season.

“There’s only one secret to reach the finish line – believing in yourself, the game, and the work you are doing,” Sacchi told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “

“Milan can win the Scudetto in this strange championship, but Pioli’s men must be even more confident, more ruthless and more generous.

“Only in this way, they will be able to overcome the competition of opponents who now, perhaps, are snoozing. But sooner or later, they will jump forward.”
