The Giallorossi made a late comeback to escape the defeat at San Siro.

Milan drew 2-2 against Roma in their Serie A game on Sunday. A four-goal thriller saw Milan fail to reclaim their second spot on the league table.

Roma escape with a point!

Milan started the game as the better side, while Roma quickly retreated into their own half.

The Rossoneri struggled to make serious chances early on but managed to gradually put pressure on Roma’s backline. Following a corner from Sandro Tonali, Pierre Kalulu put the hosts ahead with a powerful header just before the half-hour mark.

Milan pushed to double their lead before the hour-mark, but Roma held on to their defensive integrity while rarely pushing for an equalizer.

Roma changed their approach and went on the offensive after the hour-mark. But Milan stunned them with a second goal in the 77th minute. A quick counter-attack saw Rafael Leao provide a perfect assist for Tommaso Pobega, who smashed it into the far corner of the net with a precise shot.

Roma then went all-in with their attacks and got one back through Roger Ibanez in the 87th minute. It was Roma’s first serious attempt at Milan’s goal and got them right back into the game.

In a vintage Jose Mourinho scenario, Roma pushed for the equalizer and finally broke Milan’s resistance in the third minute of the extra time.

A well-taken free-kick from the right-hand side saw Milan’s keeper save the first header. But Tammy Abraham was in the perfect spot to smash the rebound into the back of the net to make it 2-2.

Roma stay sixth in Serie A after the hard-fought draw, while Milan lose the second spot to Juventus.
