Liverpool defeat Milan to end the group stage on perfect record as the Rossoneri crash out of the Champions League.

Liverpool defeated Milan with a 2-1 result in their Champions League game on Tuesday. The Reds ended the group stage by winning all of their games as the Rossoneri finished fourth.

Milan are out of the European games!

Liverpool started off as the dominant side and were close to scoring the opening goal early on. However, Milan managed to get the opener through a corner kick in the 29th minute. Following a corner from Romagnoli, Allison punched the ball from the near post. However, the rebound found Tomori, who opened the scoring for Milan.

The goal revived Milan’s hopes of qualifying as they tried to defend their lead. However, Liverpool once again used their incredible firepower. Following a powerful strike from Oxlade-Chamberlain, Maignan parried the ball in front of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian star scored his eighth goal of the tournament by smashing the ball into the top centre of the net.

It did not take long for Liverpool to complete their comeback in the second half. Following another deflected shot, Divok Origi headed the ball past Maignan to put Liverpool ahead in the 55th minute.

Milan needed to score a goal to remain in the Champions League or at least qualify for the Europa League. However, they were not able to create enough chances as Liverpool continued dominating the possession.

Liverpool qualified as group leaders after collecting 18 points from their six matches. Atletico Madrid qualified as the second team behind the Reds, while Porto qualified for the Europa League.

Milan are out of the competition with four points from their six games. The Rossoneri can now focus solely on their Serie A title race, where they are leading the table.
