The Blues moved top of the Group E table after another easy win over Milan.
Chelsea defeated Milan 2-0 in their Champions League game on Tuesday. The Premier League giants claimed their fourth consecutive win across all competitions, continuing their brilliant run under Graham Potter.
Aubameyang strikes again!
Chelsea defeated Milan 3-0 in their previous UCL meeting last week. They travelled to San Siro to face their Group E rivals this time, but that didn’t make it any easier for Milan.
The Blues started the game on a perfect note, quickly establishing control over midfield. Following a few half-chances, Potter’s side finally got the opener in the 20th minute.
The referee awarded Chelsea a penalty and dismissed Fikayo Tomori after he denied Mason Mount an obvious goalscoring chance. Jorginho then converted the penalty to make it 1-0 for the Blues.
Milan tried to bounce back by sending through-balls behind Chelsea’s backline. But their conservative approach only guaranteed the Blues’ dominance.
Mount completed his brilliant display by providing an inch-perfect assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 34th minute. The former Arsenal captain, who scored last week against Milan, nodded home from close range to double Chelsea’s lead.
The Blues remained in control of the game despite several changes on both sides. Milan left the game without registering a shot on target, highlighting Chelsea’s trademark composure under Potter.
