The Gunners will celebrate Christmas as Premier League leaders for a second year in a row.
Arsenal need to translate their domination over games into winning results, according to Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners retained their place at the top of the Premier League table after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Arteta’s men went ahead through Gabriel Magalhaes’ early goal but conceded an equalizer later in the first half.
Speaking after the game, Arteta was asked how Arsenal can improve in the second half of the season to win the Premier League title race.
“There are certain things that we have to improve, especially killing games,” the Spanish manager said (via football.london). “With the amount of dominance that we’re showing, sometimes the results have been too close and we’ve had to dig in to maintain results. That’s it. Nothing else.”
Last year, Arsenal led the league table by a margin of five points on December 25. However, they were eventually edged out by Manchester City in the title race and finished five points behind Pep Guardiola’s side.
Asked whether he feels that his side have a better chance to win the trophy this year, Arteta responded: “We have the experience of being where we are today.
“We should be really happy because that shows a lot consistency among this new group to do it in the biggest league in the world.”
He added: “We all deserve a beautiful dinner with our families tomorrow, but then we are back on it because West Ham is going to be very tough again.”
