Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is convinced the club will complete the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes and also agree an extension for Aubameyang.

Earlier today, Mikel Arteta spoke at length about his side’s chances in the transfer window.

The Gunners have been pretty quiet on the transfer front so far. Willian’s switch from rivals Chelsea is the only addition so far this window.

However, the North London side are close to completing a deal for Gabriel Magalhaes. The Lille star has undergone a medical at the club and the Gunners are only putting finishing touches on the deal.

Mikel Arteta was coy when asked about the imminent signing. Although, he is sure the defender will improve the quality in the Arsenal squad.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Community Shield clash, Arteta gave an update on the Gabriel situation.

“Regarding Gabriel we can’t announce anything yet,” he said to the club’s website. “The deal is not finalised.”

“You all know that he is a player that we have followed for a long time and hopefully we can get it done.”

“Everything is OK when both parties sign, the club and the player agrees the terms and he goes through the medical.”

“He’s a player we followed and were very determined that he was the right profile for us to improve our squad. If we are able to finalise it we will be delighted.”

“We are trying to finalise the deal, that’s what I can tell you at the moment.”

Arteta also spoke on club captain Aubameyang’s situation at the club and remains positive a contract extension will be agreed.

“I keep being positive,” he continued.

“We’ve had some really good talks with him and his agent and I am pretty confident we will find an agreement soon. That’s my feeling.”
