The Arsenal manager spent three seasons as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta has explained how working at Manchester City with Pep Guardiola has helped him become a better manager.
Arteta joined Man City as Guardiola’s assistant in July 2016, contributing to City’s rise to domestic dominance under the Spaniard.
Having won two league titles at City, Arteta then rejoined Arsenal to take charge of their extensive rebuild process in 2019.
Three years later, his Gunners side is leading the Premier League table, sitting above Man City as the reigning champions.
“I learned a lot about being at the top from Pep,” Arteta said.
“The standards at the club are not only to win but to win in a certain way every three days, and be extremely demanding and critical and at the same time supportive, so it’s a good mixture.
“It was incredible to be part of that team and the evolution and how that team was built. I will always be grateful.
“Obviously we are not going to be talking about things related to our teams but of course we can speak about football as we did in the past and that’s not going to change.”
