The Ghana international missed Wednesday’s showdown between Arsenal and Man City due to a muscle problem.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey remains a doubt for the club’s trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The 29-year-old midfielder missed Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City after suffering a muscle injury. January signing Jorginho replaced him in midfield for the match.

“We have to assess him again today,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said of Partey’s availability in Friday morning’s press conference.

“He had a little discomfort – a muscle discomfort, and we have to see how he is.”

Smith-Rowe may return, Jesus still out

On the bright side, Emile Smith Rowe may be in contention to travel to Villa Park. A thigh injury has restricted the 22-year-old to just five Premier League games, although striker Gabriel Jesus remains absent.

“Emile [Smith Rowe] is training today. If he’s fine, he’ll be in the squad,” Arteta added. “Gabi [Gabriel Jesus] is still not there.”

Arsenal hope to end a four-match winless run this weekend and reclaim the top spot in the Premier League. For betting tips and stats for the Villa game, visit this Ace Football link here.
