Mesut Ozil breaks his silence after brutal Arsenal snub

After his latest snub at Arsenal, Mesut Ozil has ended his silence on the club’s treatment of him in a lengthy statement.

What happen to Ozil? That’s a common question that has been circulating for a long time amongst Arsenal supporters.

Since putting pen-to-paper on a lucrative contract in January 2018, things have gone downhill rather dramatically. He may still be the club’s highest-paid player but, out on the pitch, he’s nowhere to be seen.

Mikel Arteta’s appointment as Unai Emery’s replacement in December 2019 appeared to revive his Gunners career. From being a forlorn figure, Ozil was back in the squad and thriving under his former teammate.

Since March, however, Ozil hasn’t featured at all and has now been left out of the club’s Premier League and Europa League squads for this season.

“This is a difficult message to write to the Arsenal fans that I’ve played for over the past few years,” Ozil posted on Twitter.

“I’m really deeply disappointed by the fact that I have not been registered for the Premier League season for the time being.

“Upon signing my new contract in 2018, I pledged my loyalty and allegiance to the club that I love, Arsenal, and it saddens me that this has not been reciprocated.

“As I have just found out, loyalty is hard to come by nowadays.

This is a difficult message to write to the @Arsenal fans that I’ve played for over the past few years. I’m really deeply disappointed by the fact that I have not been registered for the @premierleague season for the time being. But then things changed, again, and I was not longer allowed to play football for Arsenal. What else can I say? London still feels like home, I still have many good friends in this team, and I still feel a strong connection with the fans of this club.
