Gonzalo Higuain has weighed in on the speculations connecting Lionel Messi with a transfer away from Barcelona.

Reports emerged in Spanish media recently that Lionel Messi has decided to call time on his 16-year-long career at FC Barcelona.

Messi’s decision, as per those reports, was made in the wake of the horrendous defeat to Bayern Munich that saw Barca crash out of the Champions League.

The 8-2 defeat acted as a catalyst in the decision-making for Messi, who has already been losing patience with the club’s management.

Uncertainty continues to surround his future, with rumors linking him with a reunion with former boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Amidst all the speculations, a compatriot of his was asked to provide insight on the six-time Ballon d’Or winner’s situation at Camp Nou.

“I don’t know if he will leave Barcelona. It is a difficult and dramatic situation,” Gonzalo Higuain told Fox Sports.

“Only he can know what to do. I hope the best happens and that he can be happy.”
