The Argentina captain can complete a free transfer to any club he desires once his PSG contract expires at the end of this month.

Lionel Messi’s father and agent, Jorge Messi, commented on Monday that his son ‘would love’ a summer return to Barcelona.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is a free agent after ending a two-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain. He is considering his proposals. A move to Al Hilal is one option. The Saudi Arabian giants have tabled a sizeable offer, while Inter Miami of the MLS are also interested.

But while Jorge Messi was caught on camera entering the home of Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Monday morning, he denied the meeting but admitted his son’s interest in a return to his old club.

“Of course, he [Messi] would love to return to Barcelona. I would like it too. We will see,” Jorge Messi said to the reporters.

“We spoke the other day, but there’s nothing concrete.”

Barca expect to receive approval from LaLiga this week regarding their financial plans to begin their transfer business, which includes the anticipated re-signing of Messi. Their manager Xavi Hernandez has said “the doors are open” for his former teammate to come back.

Messi played his last game for PSG on Saturday after contributing 21 goals and 20 assists for the Ligue 1 champions in all competitions this season.
