The PSG star is impressed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s prolific return to Old Trafford and recalled their rivalry in La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo has adapted to the Premier League ‘in an impressive way’, says Lionel Messi.

The former Barcelona captain opened up about the forward’s progress and their famous rivalry in Spain during an interview with Spanish outlet Marca ahead of the latest round of Champions League fixtures.

Of course, Ronaldo has been his usual impressive self this season. The 36-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 games for Manchester United, including four goals in the Premier League. His outstanding form has now drawn praise from Messi.

Messi rates Ronaldo’s impact

“United is a very strong team with great players. Cristiano already knew the club, but it’s in another stage and now he has adapted in an impressive way,” the current Paris Saint-Germain star said.

“From the beginning, he has scored goals as always and had no problems adapting.

“In the Premier League it is not as good as we all thought, but it is a very difficult and even competition in which things take a lot of turns. After December it changes a lot and anything can happen.”

The legendary duels in Spain

Quizzed on whether he misses his duels with the Real Madrid legend, Messi replied: “It’s been a long time since we stopped competing in the same league.

“We competed individually and as a team for the same goals. It was a very beautiful stage for us and also for the people because they enjoyed it very much.

“It is a beautiful memory that will remain in the history of football.”

Ronaldo returns to action on Tuesday for a Champions League clash between Villarreal and Manchester United. For match details and betting tips, check out the link here.
