Arturo Vidal has received the blessings of Lionel Messi as he edges closer to officially putting an end to his two-year stay at Barcelona.

Inter Milan are expected to formally announce Arturo Vidal as one of their own players on Monday.

The Nerazzurri have already confirmed, via social media, Vidal’s arrival in Italy to complete his medicals ahead of the move.

A nominal fee of €1 million is understood to have been agreed between Inter and Barcelona for the 33-year-old, who was supposedly told by new boss Ronald Koeman that he was no longer needed at Camp Nou.

With Vidal’s departure being imminent, Lionel Messi has drafted a heartfelt message to his teammate, with the South American pair having developed a close relationship.

Messi wrote in an Instagram post: “I only knew you from facing each other and you always seemed like a phenomenon to me, but later I was lucky to meet you personally and you surprised me even more.

“They were two years sharing many things and you made yourself noticed. The dressing room is going to miss you.

“I wish you all the best in this new stage at your new club. We will cross paths again, for sure.”

Antonio Conte was reportedly pushing for a reunion with the midfielder having worked with him during their time together at Juventus. Vidal scored 34 goals with 19 assists in 111 appearances under Conte.
