After receiving constant criticism to make a move out of Barcelona, Lionel Messi is still going strong according to former Blaugrana star.

Lionel Messi has evolved into a leader for his club and country even after a hassle during the summer according to Juan Pablo Sorin.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner faced the difficulty of choosing his future options in Barcelona. Moreover, this was in the event of the global COVID19 pandemic. The Catalan giants went through tough times following a devastating 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. And a failure to win the La Liga title, which was eventually lifted by arch-rivals Real Madrid. Leo could not handle the constant pressure from supporters and the club alike.

Messi subsequently decided to make a move away from Barcelona with immediate interests from Manchester City and Inter Milan. However, after a political turmoil, the Argentina international pronounced that he will stay at Camp Nou until 2021. The 33-year-old has been lacking his original self ever since, though still remains the prominent figure for Barca and Argentina.

His legend continues.

Ex-Blaugrana and Albiceleste legend Sorin talked about his iconic countryman to TyC Sports. “I see Messi more and more as a leader and more mature. In Barcelona, he has had to experience a very chaotic moment, but he responded quickly on the pitch. He’s also doing very well in the national team.”

Sorin furthermore said that Messi has aided Argentina to make a definite start to their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign. “Leo transferred his fight into good performances on the pitch and that is very good for the Argentines. He suffered defeats in Bolivia in the past and returned to play and win there, it is a strong demonstration of character.”

Moreover, Sorin believes that the GOAT will continue to fight for his national side under the reign of Lionel Scaloni. “Leo is very well, I think he is very happy in the national team with all the people who know him around him,” added the former Argentina skipper. “I always say that you have to help him and surround him well, but not depend on him.”
