Ex-Mexico and Real Madrid forward Hugo Sanchez thinks Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona could be bad news for La Liga and Spanish football.
It’s about 10 days until the new La Liga season but the talk remains all about Messi.
Reports continue to suggest the Barca capatin is hell bent on leaving the club this summer.
Earlier today, Jorge Messi was at the club’s training ground to discuss his son’s future with the club.
There are no further reports on that but chances are that all parties could find a way to settle the situation amicably. A scenario that could see Messi leave regardless.
La Pulga’s exit would be a massive blow to Barcelona. Asides that, it is further bad news for La Liga and Spanish football as a whole.
A veteran of the beautiful game in Hugo Sanchez explains why La Liga will also be at a disadvantage should Messi leave Barca.
“Javier Tebas is very respected in Spain as he’s making teams very rich because of the amount of money he is receiving from the selling of TV rights across the world,” Sanchez said as quoted by Marca.
“Tebas usually sells his product and makes four-year and five-year contracts.
“The departures of Neymar and Cristiano [Ronaldo] affected him a lot.
“The exodus of talent from Spanish football obviously makes it less attractive.
“Messi leaving is going to be a tremendous blow.
“Even though [Tebas] says that LaLiga will be the same without Messi… no.
