Former Inter Milan director Massimiliano Mirabelli believes nothing is off the table regarding his old club’s chances of signing Lionel Messi.
The impossible may have suddenly become possible, as Lionel Messi’s future at Barcelona comes under increasing doubt with Inter reportedly lurking in the shadows.
Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo claimed on Sunday that Messi has ‘informed’ Barcelona of his plans to leave ‘immediately’ following the club’s horrific 8-2 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.
Although the Blaugrana allegedly denied these claims to Mundo Deportivo later that day. It’s alleged that none of the top-rank officials heard such a request.
Despite this reassurance, however, doubts won’t likely go away with Messi’s contract to expire in under 12 months. Therefore, Mirabelli is feeling hopeful of Inter’s chances of signing him.

The Nerazzurri’s interest in the six-time Ballon d’Or winner is one of the worst-kept secrets in football, with club chairman Steven Zhang never shutting the door on such a possibility.
“When I was at Inter, President Zhang would talk about the transfer market and say, ‘I want Messi,’ but we had to explain it wasn’t possible due to Financial Fair Play,” Mirabelli told Radio Sportiva.
“I can assure you that Messi is more than a dream for Inter. He now has only a year left on his contract and Barca don’t want to risk losing him for free next summer.
“There are important decisions to be made in Spain, but they won’t want to be left empty-handed. Anyone who wants to make the most of the situation should step forward.”
