Lionel Messi racked his first-ever goal in the French top-flight as PSG extend their unbeaten run on Saturday evening.

It has finally happened as Lionel Messi has netted his first-ever Ligue 1 goal for Paris Saint-Germain as his side beat Nantes on Saturday.

The 34-year-old grabbed on to a pass from Kylian Mbappe on the edge of the box and curled it into the net in the 87th minute of the game.

Until now, Messi has four goals registered under his name for the Parisians having scored three in his Champions League campaign so far.

Regardless of the late arrival of his long-awaited league goal, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner was overjoyed to get off the mark.

Messi told Amazon Prime: “I’m happy. We had a lot of chances, but their goalkeeper made some good saves. But we weren’t afraid and we ended up winning,”

“I am happy to score this first goal, at the Parc des Princes, in front of the fans.”

“Even though I had already scored in the Champions League, I expected to score in the league.”
