The Scotsman very rarely gets on scoresheets for the Red Devils but he now aims to improve his aerial ability and, in turn, goal tally.
Scott McTominay, other than Bruno Fernandes, was one of the most notable performers in Manchester United’s 3-1 Premier League win over Everton at Goodison Park.
The 23-year-old displayed a strong partnership with Fred in the middle of the park, giving his side a much-needed solidity while also taking up defensive responsibilities.
A string of consistent performances has seen him emerge as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s preferred choice at central midfield, ahead of World Cup winner Paul Pogba and summer signing Donny van de Beek.
The Man United academy graduate brings unique qualities to table for the team, but attacking threat is not one of them.
Ever since he debuted three-and-a-half years ago, McTominay has been able to amass just eight goals in his 94 senior appearances, and now he aims to become more prolific.
“I need to score more. Something in your mind just clicks together and you start to have a real belief,” he told the club’s website.
“Against Chelsea [in October], I had the first contact and should have done better, whenever you’re getting in from a corner. The game before, in Paris, I had two opportunities.
“So it is just that mentality, going into games really believing you can score goals. It’s just a little mindset tweak that can really make the difference.”
