The Manchester United midfielder has revealed his respect for the Bayern Munich hitman.

Scott McTominay has compared Robert Lewandowski’s longevity and work ethic to his Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lewandowski will turn 34 in August but, like Ronaldo, age is just a number to him. The striker has scored 45 goals in 37 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions this season and enters the international break off another brace against Union Berlin at the weekend.

He could next line up for Poland in a friendly against McTominay’s Scotland at Hampden Park on Thursday.

“He’s absolutely different class the way he’s looked after his body over the years,” said McTominay about Lewandowski ahead of the friendly.

“He’s obviously a phenomenal football player, and he’s somebody who’s not shy to get himself in the box and score goals.

“If he plays, we have to be aware of him. Full credit to him, he’s had an amazing career, and he’s still going. The longevity in which he has scored goals has been absolutely fantastic.

“Similar to Cristiano, every footballer in the world can look at the way he’s looked after himself. You get out of it what you put in. Hard work always pays off for these top players.”

Ronaldo will also be in action on Thursday for Portugal’s World Cup qualification playoff semi-final against Turkey. Check out the match preview here.
