The Frenchman is undoubtedly one of the finest footballers on the planet, but he has been reminded to learn how to be modest.

Kylian Mbappe “needs to behave better if he wants to be loved,” insists Metz manager Frederic Antonetti.

Mbappe was involved in a dispute with an opposition player during Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 meeting with Metz on Wednesday night.

While celebrating Achraf Hakimi’s dramatic stoppage-time winner, the 22-year-old forward said something that provoked goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja, fanning the flames of tension already between them from a prior point in the match.

“Kylian Mbappe needs to behave better if he wants to be loved,” Antonetti told in his post-match press conference, as L’Equipe reports.

“I love this player, he is very, very strong but he’d benefit from having a more humble side.”

The Metz manager added on the result: “This does not mean to smile, we must learn the lessons and the conclusion is that we took zero points.

“My players would have deserved the draw, they showed investment. Our first twenty minutes were very shy but as soon as we started to be a little active it was much better. In the end, we stupidly lose a point when we had made a lot of effort.”
