After leading Chelsea to the final of the EFL Cup, Mauricio Pochettino opened up on his desire to win a first trophy in England.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is eager to win the EFL Cup and get his first piece of silverware in English football.

On Tuesday, Chelsea booked their spot in the EFL Cup final to face either Liverpool or Fulham. The Blues punched their ticket to Wembley with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Middlesbrough. They crushed the Championship team 6-1 in the second leg of their semi-final tie on Tuesday.

Now Pochettino, who didn’t win a trophy during his spells in charge of Southampton and Tottenham, is targeting the big prize.

“I am desperate to win a title here,” Pochettino said during a post-match press conference at Stamford Bridge.

“There is your headline! We won three trophies in Paris [Saint-Germain] in 18 months and we want to win here. I am desperate to win of course.

“Fulham or Liverpool are two amazing teams, so it will be difficult, but now is the moment to believe we can win. It’s an important step for us.”

Pochettino previously led Tottenham to the 2015 EFL Cup final, only to lose 2-0 to Chelsea at Wembley. Spurs also made the Champions League final in 2019 under the Argentine, but lost the game 2-0 to Liverpool.
