Ahead of a Champions League match, Nemanja Matic has sent a timely reminder to Manchester United’s rivals about Cristiano Ronaldo’s scoring prowess.
Nemanja Matic has warned Manchester United’s rivals that Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘always there to score’ – even on a bad day.
The midfielder rates Ronaldo as one of the greatest players ever and feels the only way teams can play against him is by not lowering their guard at all during games, or else suffer the consequences.
Since rejoining Manchester United on deadline day, Ronaldo has scored four goals in as many games. He has also won plaudits for his mentality and attitude both on and off the pitch.
Speaking ahead to United’s Champions League game against Villarreal on Wednesday on BT Sport, Matic gave his verdict on CR7’s impact at Old Trafford.
“He’s one of the best football players in history, so it’s always good that you’re going to play with him and train with him, so I’m happy,” Matic said about Ronaldo, as quoted by MEN.
“Everyone is excited. I see him in training also motivated that he is here, so I think it was perfect for everyone.”
“He’s always dangerous. He doesn’t need to play well to win the games. His quality is always there when the team is not playing well. He’s always there to score, so you need to concentrate from the first until the last minute when playing against him.
“I’m sure he’s going to bring that to our team. He’s always hungry for goals. When you have someone with that experience, with that quality you just need to do your best and to try to give him the ball in the box.”
