The Catalans are actively scouting Greenwood for a possible move in the summer.

Barcelona are reportedly preparing to make an offer for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood.

The Red Devils suspended Greenwood after allegations of assault and attempted rape emerged against him in January 2022. The 22-year-old was ultimately cleared of all charges, but United decided against reintegrating him into their squad for the 2023-24 season.

A loan move to Getafe has given the English star enough playing time and exposure for a possible move to an elite side. Widespread reports in the English media have claimed that Manchester United are not planning to call Greenwood back from his loan deal as they are open to selling him next summer.

It seems that Barcelona are now eager to seize the opportunity and complete a move for Greenwood in the next transfer window.

According to Sport, Barca are open to making a €45m offer for Greenwood. The Manchester United star could also be offered to wear Lionel Messi’s iconic No.10 jersey as part of the deal.

Barcelona’s No.10 has remained vacant since Ansu Fati moved to Brighton on a season-long loan deal in the summer. However, with the Spaniard struggling to regain his best form in the Premier League, Barcelona are seemingly open to giving the shirt to another player next season.
