Lautaro Martinez was on the score-sheet as Inter Milan claimed a hard-fought 2-1 away win over Torino on Sunday afternoon.
Lautaro Martinez was involved in both of his side’s goals as Inter maintained their winning run to remain at the top of the Serie A standings.
After a goalless first half, Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring in the 62nd minute only for Sanabria to level matters eight minutes later.
With the game headed for a draw, Martinez came big for his side and bagged the all-important winning goals. He redirected a brilliant cross from Alexis Sanchez via a header five minutes from time. It was his 14th goal of the season and saw Inter continue their winning streak of seven in a row.
Speaking after the game, the Argentine reacted to a crucial three points gained.
“We knew Torino needed points, but we needed them too. It was a tough game, but we managed to win, and we are so happy,” Martinez told Sky Sport Italia.
“We train every day to do the right things. We prepared the game differently. Today we needed quality heart and soul. Today we proved we aim for something important.”
“We want to win, it doesn’t matter who scores. It’s important to find the net, I am happy to score and I am happy.”
Back in February, Martinez mentioned he was going to sign a contract extension soon with Inter.
Asked about that, he responded: “We are working, Inter are in difficulty, but we must continue to work. We’ll see what happens, but I am calm.”
