Lautaro Martinez remains upbeat about Inter’s Scudetto chances after a hard-fought victory over Hellas Verona on Wednesday night.

Lautaro Martinez remains positive Inter can challenge for the Serie A and perhaps win a title this season.

Inter claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

With Milan yet to play at the time, the victory sent Antonio Conte’s men top of the table temporarily.

After a goalless first half, Martinez opened the scoring for Inter with a neat strike in the 52nd minute. The lead didn’t last long as Ilic equalized for the hosts just about ten minutes later.

It didn’t take long for Inter to regain their lead either. Skriniar connected to a cross from Brozovic to head his side back in the lead in the 69th minute.

Inter held on to their lead and secured an important three points that could go along way in the title race. Lautaro Martinez says he was pleased with the team’s attitude while also mentioning that he joined Inter to win titles.

“We faced a strong team today, we never gave up. We did well in the first half, even if we didn’t score,” Lautaro told Sky Sport after the game.

“We showed our determination in the second half,” he continued.

“I arrived here to win something with this club. Today we have this opportunity, we work every day to stay up there. There are tough games like the one of today, we gave something more and we picked up the three points.”

Inter will finish the year in second place, just a point behind rivals Milan. Their next game will be a home fixture against Crotone on the 3rd of January, 2021.
