After defeating Portugal in the Round of 16, Roberto Martinez offered an injury update on both Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne.

Even though they were two of the most important players against Portugal, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne finished the game with injuries. The Manchester City midfielder suffered a nasty foul that hurt his left ankle. Whereas the Real Madrid forward felt pain on his left thigh’s femoral biceps and decided to leave the pitch. Normally, these types of problems need to get further evaluations in order to deliver a verdict.

We all wondered if this issue would be another problem to add to Hazard’s list. The Real Madrid star has been through immense pressure due to various injuries. During the Euro 2020, he got the confidence he needed from Roberto Martinez and finished his first full 90 minutes for the first time in the last two years. De Bruyne’s case is different but he also has been suffering ankle issues. That injury scared everybody because it’s the exact same hurt area. All we had left was today’s verdict from Roberto Martinez during the press conference.

Martinez offers the injury report on both players.

Fortunately, Roberto Martinez confirmed these issues weren’t too serious for any of the two stars. Even though they need some recovery time, he is hesitant they will get back in full health by the time they face Italy in the quarterfinals. Allianz Arena in Munchen will be the place where the Belgian National Team will play against Italy. Martinez hopes both of his stars can be eligible for this crucial game on Friday.

This is what he told the press: “It’s quite positive for us. Eden and Kevin have no structural damage. They will remain with the squad. We won’t get them fully fit for Friday. In the next phase, they will be fit to play. We take it day by day.” After hearing what Martinez had to say, perhaps Real Madrid supporters can rest easy knowing Hazard is not injured again. In fact, there were images of him walking normally after the match despite leaving the pitch against Portugal.
