Lautaro Martinez was one of the stars on the evening as Inter advanced to the Europa League finals after easing past Shakhtar Donetsk.
Lautaro Martinez was a busy figure as he played a key part in Inter’s 5-0 semi-final win over Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Argentine forward had a hand in three of his side’s goals and put in a brilliant performance altogether.
This season, Inter fell short on the domestic scene as they failed to go all the way to dethrone Juventus as the Serie A Champions.
With a high-flying Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku, the Nerazzurri now have one hand on the Europa League title. Although, they must go past Sevilla who are tagged ‘specialists’ in winning the competition.
Ahead of the Europa League final on Friday, the Argentine forward hailed his side’s semi-final performance and believes they are all fired up for the all-important game.
“It was an incredible night, the kind we dreamed of. It had been a long time since I played that well, and in a semi-final we proved Inter are ready for great things. We’re ready for the Final,” Lautaro told Sky Sport Italia.
“These goals give me so much, as there was a period when I wasn’t at my usual levels, but this experience helps you to grow. I am very happy with the way the team is playing and showing such character. We’re getting better game by game and I am happy on a personal level too, as I am going to have my first child, so I dedicate the goals to my wife and family.”
Martinez also spoke highly of Sevilla and acknowledged they would not be easy to play against.
“Sevilla are a very strong side, we will try to rest over the next few days and prepare for this special match that we’ve been dreaming of. We hope it all goes well and Inter take the trophy home.”
The stage is now set as Inter will look to end their season on a title-winning note. The Nerazzurri are also the first Italian side in the Europa League/UEFA Cup final for 21 years.
Lautaro Martinez is all geared up for the big game and will be eager to get his name on the score-sheet on that occasion as well.
