Focused on closing out 2020/21, a long-serving Spaniard at the Allianz Stadium has not given much thought to his next move.

Javi Martinez is “open to all directions” as he prepares to part ways with Bayern Munich after almost a decade at the end of the season.

Bayern made Martinez their costliest signing ever after triggering his €40 million release clause to acquire him from Athletic Club back in 2012.

A few eyebrows were raised at the time at his sizable price tag, but fast forward to today and the midfielder has more than justified it. He has helped the Bundesliga giants to 23 trophies in total all while being a prominent member of the team.

Former club Athletic Bilbao has been touted as a possible next destination for him while the 32-year-old is also linked with a move to the MLS.

Discussing his future plans on Kicker, Martinez stated: “I’m open to all directions and am looking for the best option for myself.

“I don’t know yet, I will make this decision at home in Ayegui this summer. First I will concentrate on the last two games and my farewell.”

“My legs decide [how long I continue playing at the highest level]. One year, three, 10? Take a look. But I also want to be physically well after my career is over.”
