Reports have emerged in Spain claiming that Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard has tested positive for coronavirus.

Odegaard made his ‘second debut’ for Real Madrid on Sunday in a goalless stalemate away to former club Real Sociedad.

It wasn’t the glorious night the midfielder would’ve hoped for in San Sebastian. He played in a supporting role, focusing on aiding the team in the high press. Although there were a few moments of promise, as he gradually settled and linked up well with some of his teammates.

But it turns out Odegaard’s performance over the weekend is the least of his worries, with Spanish network Onda Madrid announcing he has tested positive for coronavirus.

It’s alleged that the 21-year-old was found to be positive after the entire squad underwent standard tests upon returning to Madrid.

A second test will be taken soon to confirm the prognosis on Odegaard, who has followed the health guidelines by going into self-isolation. None of the Real Sociedad players, meanwhile, tested positive for the disease.

Should the second test return positive, Odegaard will become the second infected member of the Real Madrid squad after Mariano Diaz, who tested positive at the end of July.

The Norway international is now set to be unavailable for Zinedine Zidane’s side for Saturday’s trip to Real Betis in LaLiga.
