Ex-Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze has vowed to do even better after catching the eye on his debut for Dutch side PSV.

Mario Gotze made a flying start to his PSV career after bagging an early goal on his debut for the club.

The 28-year-old joined the Dutch side on a free transfer after his second stint with Dortmund ended with the conclusion of the 2019/20 season.

Gotze vowed to push himself to the physical limit given his recent struggles with injury over the past couple of seasons.

“I feel I am ready for a very different challenge and I am confident that this should be a very comfortable transition for me,” he told PSV’s official website after completing his move at the time.

Roger Schmidt immediately handed Mario Gotze his debut in the starting eleven in PSV’s clash against PEC Zwolle.

After only nine minutes, Gotze made an instant impact, racing onto a bad backpass before slotting the ball into the net calmly.

In the 18th minute, Cody Gakpo fired in a second for the visitors before the in-form winger set up Donyell Malen to make it 3-0.

After the game, Gotze said as quoted by Voetbal: “I am very happy with the team performance, the three points, and my performance today.”

“It feels good to be back on the field, to score again, and to help the team. My physique is getting better and better. I know it will take a few games to get back to 100 percent, but it’s important for me to get back into rhythm. Give it a few weeks and I’ll be even better.”

PSV will now focus on the Europa League where they face La Liga side Granada on Thursday. Gotze will be in contention to make his second start for the Dutch side.
