With 239 Premier League appearances under his belt, Marcus Rashford has now revealed who stands out as the best of the best in the English top flight.

Marcus Rashford has named his toughest opponent as Kyle Walker. He also spared special praise for two of the Manchester City defender’s teammates, Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne.

Haaland was the best Premier League footballer of the 2022/23 campaign in Rashford’s opinion, while De Bruyne has been the outstanding player in recent years.

“Last season it was definitely Haaland,” Rashford said of the Premier League’s best player to ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville on The Overlap.

“But over the last four or five years it’s De Bruyne, 100%.”

In 2022/23, Haaland won the Golden Boot with a record-breaking 36 goals. De Bruyne, on the other hand, won the Playmaker of the Year award, having made 16 assists for title winners City throughout the season.

Rashford himself has become one of Manchester United’s most prolific goalscorers. The forward scored 17 times in the league last season and 30 in all competitions.

Yet, when it comes to facing Walker in the derbies between Manchester United and Manchester City, Rashford is faced with his greatest challenge.

“His physical capabilities are just unbelievable. It’s always going to be a tough day against him,” Rashford said of playing against the Manchester City defender.

“You need to try and catch him off guard or in the wrong positions but even then he can recover so it’s always a difficult game against Kyle.”

Manchester United return to action on Wednesday in a friendly against Real Madrid. The game will take place at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
