A slip in standards was the story of the previous season for several Reds stars, with the Senegalese being one of them.
Sadio Mane feels “more ready mentally and physically” for the coming season after enduring a testing 2020-21 campaign.
Mane was in questionable form throughout the past season as his efficiency in front of goal took a significant dip as compared to his previous seasons.
The 29-year-old winger, who scored 40 Premier League goals combined in 2018-19 and 2019-20 and won the Golden Boot once, managed to find the back of the net just 11 times in the league last term.
Mane told Liverpool’s official website: “Well, I think like I said at the beginning, and when I said it, I meant it, for sure. It was not my best season, which I know.
“Like I always said, it can happen in football but I think it won’t be the same [next] season. For sure, I am more ready, mentally, physically, everything, so I think it will be for myself an exciting season.”
Liverpool as a whole had a season to forget last time out. Jurgen Klopp’s side miserably failed in their attempt to defend their Premier League crown while also going trophyless.
But Mane is expecting things to get better in the coming season. He said: “Yeah! I think for sure it will be a different season and it will be another great season for Liverpool Football Club.”
