The Dutch midfielder’s depressing spell at Man United could end this winter.

Donny van de Beek has admitted that he might leave Manchester United to get more playing time elsewhere.

United were open to selling the former Ajax star after understanding that he didn’t have a place in Erik ten Hag’s plans. This season, Van de Beek has played only 21 minutes across all competitions for the Red Devils, failing to improve his place in United’s pecking order.

Asked about a possible January exit, Van de Beek said on Saturday: “I need to play on a regular basis… if not at Man United, it will be at another club.

“It’s a healthy ambition. I’m absolutely crazy about football. I make a good living at Man United, but money has never been my motivation.”

Van de Beek has made a total of 62 appearances for United since his £34.6m move from Ajax in 2020. The arrival of Ten Hag, who had worked with Van de Beek at Ajax, revived the Dutchman’s hopes of reviving his United career. However, it seems the 26-year-old has decided to continue his career elsewhere.

Van de Beek’s current contract at Old Trafford runs until 2025. Ligue 1 side Lorient came close to signing Van de Beek on a loan deal in the summer. Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have also shown interest in the former Ajax midfielder before.
