The Red Devils have struggled for goalscoring consistency despite adding Rasmus Hojlund to their squad in the summer.

Former Manchester United star Paul Ince believes that acquiring Karim Benzema would be a game-changer for the club, providing a significant boost and relieving the pressure on young striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Despite securing a lucrative three-year deal with Al-Ittihad last summer, the 36-year-old Benzema is actively seeking a move away from Saudi Arabia this month. Clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG, Lyon, and Manchester United have expressed interest, but the veteran Frenchman’s wage demands pose a hurdle with just a week left in the January transfer window.

With Hojlund struggling to find the net since his £72 million move from Atalanta last summer, Benzema is seen as a potential short-term solution for Manchester United. In recent years, the club has welcomed aging forwards such as Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Radamel Falcao, with varying degrees of success.

Speaking to instantcasino.com, Ince said: “If Manchester United can get Karim Benzema, then you’re taking him all day long. Signing Benzema would lift the whole club, including the fans.

“I don’t care if he’s 36, he’s a world-class player. It would be great if the club could get him. It would take a lot of pressure off Hojlund and it could lift them into those top four places.”

He added: “If Manchester United were to move for Benzema, it also takes the pressure off Rasmus Hojlund to a certain degree, who is still a young striker who would prefer to have a senior player to look up to.

“The pressure wouldn’t be on him to score every time he plays, and he can spend his time in training learning from one of the best.”
