Manchester United aim for the Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele after a life-long negotiation for Jadon Sancho.
Jadon Sancho linked to the Red Devils for the entire summer transfer season. The England international scored 20 goals and has 20 assists in the previous season.
Nevertheless, United did not want to pay the money requested by Borussia Dortmund. The £100 million-plus price asked by the German club ended the transfer negotiation. After weeks of talks between the two clubs, Ed Woodward came to a final conclusion.
United gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjear shows his interest to buy another forward before the summer transfer ends. According to talkSPORT, the English club has set its target on Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona.
The 23-year-old Frenchman hassled hard for his comeback in LaLiga. He suffered several injuries playing only 17 games overall last season.
On the other hand, the Barca winger also links to Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign Dembele to power his front three even more.
Although, the battle now begins as United has joined the competition for Dembele.
“It looks like the Jadon Sancho move is now off,” talkSPORT’s transfer guru Alex Crook told Jim White on Tuesday.
“Borussia Dortmund have grown tired of United dragging this one out and repeatedly failing to meet their £108m asking price.
“I think that would be an annoyance for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having done a lot of the leg work on this and he was convinced Sancho would sign.
“My understanding is that Ed Woodward is now actively pursuing alternative targets, and one of those appears to be Ousmane Dembele.
“This is going to be a very complicated deal, because Barcelona would want to recoup the bulk of the €105m (£96m) they paid Dortmund back in 2017.
“My understanding is United would like to do a loan deal with an option to buy full-time next summer.
“But I think Barcelona would want that permanent deal rubber stamped as an obligation before they even consider letting him go.
“And this is what infuriates Man United fans, I think.
“Because they still bill themselves as one of the biggest clubs in the world, Solskjaer has said that himself, but the perception is they’re always trying to do stuff on the cheap.”
