The pressure is piling on Ten Hag ahead of Ratcliffe’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is reportedly being considered as a candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have struggled to live up to expectations despite spending around £400m in transfer fees under Ten Hag. On Tuesday, United finished the Champions League’s group stage at the bottom of Group A, missing out on around £28m in tournament bonuses.
Speculations about Ten Hag’s possible sacking have intensified ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s imminent takeover. It seems the INEOS CEO already has a favourite candidate to replace the Dutchman.
According to Sky Sports, Graham Potter is the first manager on Ratcliffe’s list to replace Ten Hag. The 48-year-old manager has been out of work since getting sacked by Chelsea last season.
Following a successful spell at Brighton, Potter took over the Blues as Thomas Tuchel’s successor. However, his disastrous start to the 2022-23 season convinced the club to sack him after only seven months.
Following their home defeat against Bayern Munich, Manchester United will travel to Anfield to meet Liverpool in a Premier League clash on Sunday. The Red Devils are ten points behind their arch-rivals, who are leading the league table.
