Manchester United are waiting to see the situation of things after reports emerged Alex Telles tested positive for covid-19 a second time.

Manchester United are left sweating with the potential of seeing left-back Alex Telles miss out a couple of games once again.

The 27-year-old initially tested positive for coronavirus towards the end of October and missed four games for the Red Devils at the time.

Telles then joined up with the Brazil squad after testing negative prior to his side’s game against Venezuela last Friday. The defender even came off the bench and featured in the second half during their 1-0 win on that occasion.

However, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) confirmed that Atlético Mineiro star Guilherme Arana will replace the United man in the national squad.

The reason for the above being that Telles supposedly tested positive for covid-19 a second time.

The 27-year-old is no longer in a transmissive stage and Manchester United have released an update on the player.

A statement on the club’s website read:

“The club is checking on the situation regarding Alex Telles and will assess the defender upon his return to Manchester from international duty later this week.”

“Reports in Brazil have suggested Telles has tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time and could therefore miss his nation’s match against Uruguay in Montevideo on Tuesday night.”

“However, it is understood Alex’s positive test does not necessarily mean he has contracted the virus again.”

“United’s medical staff at the Aon Training Complex are monitoring the situation in Brazil and will make an assessment when Telles returns to England later this week.”

“It is still hoped our recent signing from FC Porto will be available to play in Saturday’s Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.”

With Luke Shaw ruled out of action for a month after a hamstring injury, the Red Devils will be hoping to call Alex Telles back in action as soon as possible.
